What is made by hand
stays in the hand.
Karat Atelier is a bespoke jewellery house, founded in 2021. We design, set and polish every piece by hand — for a third of the price of a grand maison.
A promise between
siblings.
Karat Atelier was born from a childhood dream. Two siblings in Switzerland, children of a mother who has been creating her own jewels for forty years, promised each other that one day they would build something together.
Life drew them apart. She settled in Cairo five years ago, immersing herself in a world where gold is still shaped by hand and gemstones are chosen with ceremony. She forged close ties with Egypt's finest ateliers — the ones that once served houses whose names are no longer spoken.
He stayed in Switzerland, channelling his passion for technology into new ways of experiencing luxury. Their mother remained the thread between them.
“Luxury is the time spent understanding what you really want — then the time spent making it real.”
Four weeks, four gestures.
Everything starts with a conversation. You tell us what you imagine — a photo, a memory, a silhouette. Our advisor Léa takes the time to understand, asks the right questions, sells you nothing.
An hour with Léa, in English or French. No commitment.
Photorealistic 2D render and interactive 3D, delivered within 24h.
G.I.A. selection, Kimberley traceability, video presentation.
Atelier & Cairo. Hand polishing. 3 to 5 weeks.
Every step is documented with photos. You watch your piece come to life, like a letter being written to you. And if a detail isn't right — we start again, until the piece is exactly as it should be.
A third of the price.
Our first pieces, made for friends in Switzerland, were independently appraised at three to five times what they cost us to make. A traditional maison's margin covers its boutiques, its advertising, its marketing.
We have no boutique. We have no campaign. We have an atelier, a conversation, a gesture. That is why we can offer the same level of execution — sometimes higher — at a third of the price.
The promise, finally kept.
